November is National Adoption month!
At CASA we would like to increase awareness of adoption, bring attention to the need for adoptive families for children and teens
experiencing the U.S. foster care system, and emphasize the value of lifelong connections.

More than one in five children waiting for adoption were ages 13–17.34.9
The average time in care for all children waiting to be adopted was 34.9 months, or nearly 3 years.

Meet our new board member MJ!
Mary Jane is a CPA with forty years of experience in private and public sector service. Beginning at Deloitte, she specialized in real estate and government, finding her passion in economic development. She retired as Assistant CEO of San Bernardino County with responsibility for Finance, Administration, Land Use Services, Community Services, Economic Development and Redevelopment and Housing and Emergency Services
Mary Jane and her husband, Jeff are adoptive parents to three children from the foster care system in Southern California. They know first hand the struggles and joys of the children and their foster families.
Mary Jane and Jeff retired to East Tennessee to live near her family, whose ancestors settled this region in 1799. Mary Jane currently serves as Chair of East Tennessee VOAD responding to emergencies through the community based and faith based organizations serving East Tennessee.
When they are not volunteering, they enjoy boating, skiing and sharing Jeff’s culinary skills at home.
