When someone asks, “What is a CASA?” the easiest answer would be an individual who is a Court Appointed Special Advocate and they speak up on behalf of abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system, but what does that really say about what a CASA volunteer really is? A CASA is your everyday individual looking to make a difference in someone’s life. A CASA is someone willing to give of themselves unselfishly. A CASA is someone willing to take a stand on what they feel is right even if no one else in the room agrees with them. A CASA is someone willing to get in the trenches to discover what a child really needs. A CASA is someone who wipes the tears from a child’s face when they don’t understand and celebrates with a child when they graduate high school after being told they never would. A CASA is someone who does what they do because of the pay in heart no the pay in the wallet. So when one asks what is a CASA the answer could easily be……..A CASA is everything a child needs!
